
Enrico Borghi is President of the Institute of European Democrats. Since April 2000 until 2018, he was President of UNCEM (National Union of Mountain Municipalities, Communities and Authorities). In 2008, he was ranked among the 50 top Italian public management executives by the “PA Executive Conference – FORUM PA” in Rome. He served as Mayor of Vogogna (VB) from 1995 to 2004 and again from 2009 to 2019. From March 2011 to February 2013, he was National Vice President of ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities). At the international level, he was a member of the Chamber of Local Authorities of the Council of Europe (for which he also served as an election observer during the municipal elections in Albania in June 1998), and from 2002 to 2010 he was a full member of the Committee of the Regions. He was Deputy Vice President of AEM (European Association of Elected Representatives from Mountain Areas), serving as Acting President from April 2007 to June 2008. He is a co-founder of the World Association of Mountain Populations (APMM) and a member of the “Mountain Partnership,” a global alliance for mountain development established at the FAO. A member of the Italian Parliament during the 17th and 18th Legislatures and currently a Senator in the 19th, he is Vice President of the political party Italia Viva, and a member of both the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic (Copasir).
