Anastasia Garina is a lawyer and a human rights activist. She is the former head of the Moscow branch of the Committee Against Torture, as well as the Executive Director of the Memorial Human Rights Center. The organisation was first established in 1987, but it was liquidated by a Russian court at the beginning of 2022. However, the team behind the organisation launched the new Memorial Human Rights Center, whose main areas of activity are protecting those affected by law enforcement arbitrariness, supporting political prisoners, and using international mechanisms of human rights protection.
At the Memorial, Anastasia mainly works on cases related to violations of human rights, but also with helping the refugees, collecting data and publishing analytical reports.
