Jasminka Young has been working in sustainability transitions field for more than fifteen years. Her educational background includes the University Degree in Earth Science (Geography) combined with two MSc (one in Business and Ecological Management and the other one in European Politics and Policies from KU Leuven, Belgium) and doctoral research (also KU Leuven, Belgium). Her academic focus is public policy and multi-level governance. The thematic focus is climate change, environmental and renewable energy policy with skills covering policy analysis (policy making, implementation and evaluation). She has lectured and published widely on ecological standards relevant for green transformation, energy transition governance (renewable energy) and air-pollution just to mention a few.
Earlier in her career she has worked with the Government of Serbia, OSCE and UNDP. Last seven years as a Co-founder and Programme Director of RES Foundation her professional engagement has been focused on the areas of air-pollution and local energy transition. Finally, for a year she has served the UN Resident Coordinators team leader and strategic planner. During this time, she led the preparation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Cooperation Framework for 2021-2025 (signed between the UN and Government of Serbia in 2022.) that integrates sustainable development goals throughout different policy sectors.
