Adrian Davidoiu, a Romanian diplomat, has been appointed in October 2022, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, as Special Representative for the Western Balkans. Mr Davidoiu has joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania in 1997 and has pursued a diplomatic career since then, up to the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary. Between 2015-2021, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Kingdom of Norway. Previously, he held various positions as diplomat dealing with political affairs, European affairs and security issues, as well as deputy head of mission and chargé d’áffaires a.i. within Romanian bilateral and multilateral diplomatic missions. Within the Headquarters of MFA of Romania he worked as a diplomat at EU Directorate, European Correspondent (2003-2004), Director General, Head of Department for Strategic Affairs (2013-2015) – covering strategic issues, NATO and the security agenda, arms control regimes, as well as the Transatlantic relationship – with the US and Canada. Mr Davidoiu was a member or head of Romanian delegations to various meetings and working formats, regional or international, including in the capacity of Romanian Sherpa to the Nuclear Security Summit, Romania’s Representative to NATO HLTF, Head of the Delegation of Romania the General Conference of the IAEA. He lectured at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute and was associated lecturer in Geopolitics at the National School of Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest, and was invited as a speaker in numerous conferences and seminaries, in Romania and abroad. He is fluent in English, French and Italian.
