Arie M. Kacowicz is a Professor of International Relations and the Chaim Weizmann Chair in International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. A Faculty member at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem since 1993, he was the Chair of the Department of International Relations in 2005-2008 and the President of the Israeli Association of International Studies in 2017-2021. He is the author and editor of ten books, including most recently, The Unintended Consequences of Peace: Peaceful Borders and Illicit Transnational Flows (Cambridge University Press, 2021). His research areas of interest include peace studies; global governance and globalization; alternative paths to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (with a focus upon the Confederation blueprint); international relations of Latin America; and the future of the international order. Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas War in October 2023 he has joined Mitvim, an Israeli policy think-tank, aimed to promote a political settlement to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
