Rem Korteweg

Senior Research Fellow, Clingendael Institute

Dr Rem Korteweg is senior research fellow at the Clingendael Institute in The Hague. He is head of the US Programme and the Geopolitics of Trade Programme. His research focuses on the intersection of trade, foreign policy and security policy, and he has an interest in the impact of geopolitics on economic globalisation. Currently he works on European trade & industrial policy, economic security, and the future of transatlantic relations. Until 2017 Rem was a senior research fellow at the Centre for European Reform (CER) in London. In 2012, he was posted at the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs as strategic policy advisor. In 2006-2007, he was a Fulbright scholar at Johns Hopkins-SAIS in Washington DC. Rem holds a PhD in International Relations from Leiden University.
