
Olena Kharytonova is Adviser to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men. She is also Associate Professor at the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Kharkiv, Ukraine. Olena is a qualified lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in research and teaching activities, including creation and introduction thе «Gender Studies for Future Lawyers», «Gender Equality and Women’s Rights», «International Human Rights Standards in Criminal Law» courses into the University’s educational process. She is an experienced legal and policy researcher; a member of international research group at Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewich University in Poznan (2018/2019); co-author of the report “Ensuring Fair and Effective Justice in Adjudicating War Crimes Cases in Ukraine”, USAID (2022); Fellow at the University of Graz, Austria (2022/2023). Olena is also a skilled legislative drafter with proven record of legislative research and drafting in the Ukrainian Parliament; a member of analytic groups for making the legal opinions on requests of relevant authorities; а member of the working group on gender audit of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
