Maxim Tucker

Maxim Tucker reports from the frontlines of the war in Ukraine for The Times, as well as politics, society and culture in the Balkans. He was assistant foreign editor at the newspaper from 2021 to 2024 and Ukraine correspondent between 2014 and 2017. He has worked in the countries of the former Soviet Union for more than 15 years, including as a grantmaker for the Open Society Foundations, news editor for the Kyiv Post and Amnesty International’s Campaigner on Ukraine and the South Caucasus. He is also an independent filmmaker, with documentaries broadcast by the UK’s Channel 4 and America’s PBS Frontline. His work has featured in The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent, Newsweek, Foreign Policy magazine and Politico.
