Oleksandr Chalyi

Associate Fellow of Geneva Centre for Security Policy

Ambassador Oleksandr Chalyi is currently Associate Fellow of Geneva Centre for Security Policy (Switzerland) and the President of Grant Thornton (Ukraine). He is a former First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diplomatic Advisor to the President of Ukraine. Amb. Oleksandr Chalyi has over 45 years of experience in diplomacy, leadership, negotiation and mediation in the public and private sectors. For many years, he was directly responsible for numerous negotiations and mediation processes on key strategic and problematic issues in Ukrainian foreign and security policy.  He represented Ukraine as an ambassador to Romania (1995-1998) and the Council of Europe (2000-2001). During 2014-2015, he was a Member of the OSCE Group of Eminent Persons on European security. From February to May 2022, Amb. Oleksandr Chalyi participated, as a diplomatic volunteer and expert in negotiations with the Russian Federation on a peaceful settlement of the Russian – Ukrainian war.
