Tomislav Žigmanov

Minister for Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, Republic of Serbia

Tomislav Žigmanov has been socially active since 1990. He was a member of the editorial board of the Subotica biweekly “Žig” from 1994 to 1996, deputy editor-in-chief from 1996 to 1997, and in 1998, the editor-in-chief of this paper. In the period from 1997 to 1998, he was the coordinator of education programmes for civil society at the Open University in Subotica. He is responsible for the construction of several of the most important Croatian institutions in Subotica: he was the editor-in-chief of the programme in the Croatian language on Radio Subotica from 1998 to 2000, he was one of the initiators and the first president of the Board of Directors of the Newspaper Publishing Institution (NIU) Hrvatska Riječ from 2002 to 2004, as well as the first director of the Institute for Culture of Vojvodina Croats from 2008. Mr Žigmanov teaches the history of philosophy at the Theological and Catechetical Institute of the Diocese of Subotica and is a frequent guest lecturer at higher education institutions in Serbia and Croatia. Since 2015, he has been the President of the Democratic Union of Croats in Vojvodina.
