Oana Popescu-Zamfir is Founder and Director of the GlobalFocus Center, an independent foreign policy and security think tank. She is a Europe’s Futures fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna (IWM), an associate researcher with the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), a fellow of the Agora Strategy Institute, and a member of the International Advisory Committee of the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy. She was state secretary for EU affairs in the Romanian government and foreign policy adviser to the then-president of the Romanian Senate, Mircea Geoana, who is currently NATO deputy secretary general. Ms Popescu-Zamfir focuses on geopolitics in the EU/NATO neighbourhood, transatlantic relations, global political risk and strategic analysis, shifting models of governance, democratization and democratic resilience, and hybrid threats (especially influence operations). She was a Fulbright scholar at Yale University and completed executive studies at Harvard University and the University of St. Andrews.
